A Magical Stay at the Haymarket Hotel: London's Best Boutique Hotel

London is brimming with incredible hotels, and the Haymarket Hotel in central London is one of them. I had the pleasure of staying there this past spring, and it was such a treat. Situated near Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, and Covent Garden, I couldn't have found a better location.

As soon as you step into the Haymarket Hotel, you immediately notice it’s classic elegance and modern charisma. And the accommodation? They've got 50 plush rooms and suites, each decked out with lively fabrics and textiles. No sedate rooms will be found here.

Amenities

Honestly, the amenities are just okay. There is no spa (although some spa services are available upon request), and the gym is in the basement, with no view. But they have a Woodway treadmill (my favorite - I get so excited when a hotel I’m staying at has one), which compensates for the lack of people-watching opportunities. What’s not to be missed is the subterranean pool. It’s an 18-meter pool under twinkling neon lights with a fully stocked bar along one wall. So basically, it’s an upscale cavern for adults.

I absolutely loved the library at the Haymarket! It's tucked away just around the corner from the front desk - a perfect little hideaway. After a full day of exploring London, what's better than sinking into one of the comfy armchairs with a drink from the honor bar in hand? It's the perfect way to unwind.

Customer Service

What the Haymarket lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for with its exceptional customer service. From the moment you step into the elegant lobby, you'll be greeted by friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to ensure your stay is nothing short of perfection. Even when you arrive six hours before the published check-in time, having just come off an overnight flight (so not looking your best). They’ll kindly check you in and then ask housekeeping to prioritize your room so you can freshen up.

The hotel staff are always ready to recommend the best restaurants, attractions, and hidden gems that only locals know about. If you ask the concierge for restaurant recommendations, he’ll ask what kind of cuisine you prefer and other preferences and then send a list of restaurants with descriptions to your room so you can look them over and decide. I loved that approach because I got to take a look at menus rather than having to decide on the spot.

Further, the hotel's commitment to exceptional customer service extends beyond the interactions with the staff. The rooms are impeccably clean and well-maintained, with luxurious amenities (they are serious about the amenities in the rooms, with Bluetooth speakers, soaking tubs, and walk-in closets in some rooms), and comfortable furnishings.

In the busy city life of London, finding a hotel that treats you like royalty can really take your trip up a notch. They've got this whole exceptional customer service thing down to a T. From the minute you step in to the second you wave goodbye, they're all about making your experience memorable. Trust me, the exceptional service at the Haymarket Hotel is well worth the lack of spa.

Exploring the surrounding neighborhood and attractions

Other than the customer service, what really attracted me to the Haymarket Hotel is its location. When you stay at the Haymarket Hotel, you’re across from His Majesty’s Theater, next to the National Gallery, and down the street from Piccadilly Circus. Or you can walk through Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall to pass by Downing Street to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.

Art lover? Then you can’t miss a trip to the National Gallery when you're staying at the Haymarket Hotel. This isn't just any old gallery, it's home to an incredible collection of works from some of the world's most admired artists. We're talking Van Gogh, Monet, and Da Vinci - big names, right? And when I say it’s right next door - it’s around the corner and not even a five minute walk.

Maybe you're more into retail therapy? I’m never going to object to shopping. Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus are a slightly longer 10 minute walk. These aren't your average shopping destinations, they're packed with an array of high-end boutiques and iconic British brands. Even if you don’t buy anything, Fortum & Mason on Piccadilly is spot you just can’t miss.

A visit to Buckingham Palace is an absolute must. It's just a short walk from the Haymarket to The Mall, where you can catch the Changing of the Guard. Afterwards, stroll up for a closer look at Buckingham Palace itself.

And let's not forget the theater lovers! The West End is literally on your doorstep, offering a wide selection of world-class productions and performances.

In conclusion, the customer service and location are really why the Haymarket Hotel really stands out in the crowded London hotel scene. From the moment you step inside, you're treated to an experience that's hard to beat. Whether you're a London local or a visitor from afar, I cannot recommend the Haymarket Hotel enough. So go ahead, treat yourself to a stay at this remarkable hotel. Trust me, it's an experience you won't forget!
